Standard sizes are turned to match the image orientation and filled with a centered crop, so “Image kept” shows how much survives the crop.
“Meets” is a numerical comparison with your target only. It does not assess focus, noise or how the print will look.

Behind the numbers
Largest print = pixels ÷ target PPI. Effective PPI on a standard size = the smaller of (pixels ÷ inches) on each axis, after turning the size to match the image.
Effective PPI is a numerical density. It does not assess focus, noise, compression or viewing distance.
Results use the numbers you enter. See the methodology for precision, accepted ranges and sharing behavior.

Useful answers
At 300 PPI the full frame measures 20 × 13.33 inches (50.8 × 33.87 cm). At 200 PPI it measures 30 × 20 inches. The table shows how each standard size compares after cropping to its shape.
It is the number of image pixels that land in each printed inch after the image is enlarged or reduced to cover that size. When the shapes differ, the excess is cropped, so the density is set by the tighter axis.
The full print size keeps your image’s exact proportions. Standard sizes have their own proportions, so filling them crops part of the image and can lower the effective density on one axis.
No single number fits every print. Use your provider’s specification at the final size. Large prints viewed from farther away are often prepared at lower densities; this calculator shows the numbers so you can compare them.
