Common Screen Resolutions

Aspect ratios, megapixels, print sizes and pixel density for 13 common display resolutions, from 1280 × 720 to 8K. All values are calculated from the pixel dimensions.

Resolution, aspect ratio and size

Common labels are shown for orientation; manufacturers do not always use them consistently. “Print at 300 PPI” is the physical size if a screenshot of that resolution were printed at 300 PPI.

Pixel density (PPI) by screen size

Screen PPI = √(width² + height²) ÷ diagonal. A 27-inch 4K panel is much denser than a 27-inch 1440p panel. Use the calculator below for your exact diagonal.

Calculate your screen’s PPI

Your dimensions

On your device

Illustrative combinations, not specifications for a particular device. Enter your display’s actual measurements below.

Use panel pixels, not a scaled browser viewport.

Use the panel’s native pixel dimensions.

Measure the display area, excluding its bezel.

Use the same unit as the diagonal you entered.

Use a decimal point, without commas. Physical lengths and PPI accept up to 4 decimal places.

Use the display’s native pixel grid and viewable diagonal, excluding its frame.

CSS defines a relationship of 96 CSS px per CSS inch. That relationship is not a measurement of this screen’s physical pixel density.

Native resolution is not the CSS viewport

Operating systems scale the interface on dense screens. A 3840 × 2160 laptop panel at 200% scaling reports a 1920 × 1080 CSS viewport to the browser, so layout CSS pixels and native panel pixels differ. Use native pixels for screen PPI; use CSS pixels for web layout and the CSS unit converter.
